Renowned painter of horses, Larry Wheeler’s portraits often include the people who breed, train, show and ride them as well. Wheeler began his career as a portrait painter in the 1960s and quickly turned his attention to horses in the late 1970s after watching Spectacular Bid workout at Pamlico. Commissioned works are continuously on demand by equine enthusiasts and art collectors alike.
Larry Wheeler completed his BFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art and went on to study at the Institutes Hoffberger School of Painting where he earned his MFA in 1972. His paintings are regularly featured at the American Academy of Equine Art and are proudly displayed in public and private collections all over the country. His works have sold for over $40,000.
